We are Mario

Recently we were asked to receive the baton from Norm and Judy Hansen and Fr. Bernie Steiner as the new North American Ecclesial Team for World Marriage Day.
Once we said yes, to embracing this new call to serve, and began to take our first steps on this journey, the first thing that impacted us was the reality that we are walking in the footsteps of many outstanding couples and priests who have walked before us. We also noticed that if this journey were a hallway its walls would be covered with many interesting facts, like:
TWENTY EIGHT YEARS AGO, WORLDWIDE
MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER BEGAN ENCOURAGING A
CELEBRATION OF MARRIAGE ON THE SECOND
SUNDAY OF FEBRUARY.
Another framed statement would tell us that,
1983 WORLD MARRIAGE DAY WAS DESIGNATED AS A DAY TO
HONOR THE HUSBAND AND WIFE AS THE HEAD OF THE FAMILY,
THE BASIC UNIT OF SOCIETY .
These two statements, along with the many others that together comprise the Mission Statement of Worldwide Marriage Encounter, honor and salute the beauty of every couple and priest’s faithfulness, commitment to love and sacrifice in the joy of daily married life.
Filled with this inspiration we can only begin to imagine all of the great things that are possible, and yet to be unfolded before the world, as we prepare for the upcoming World Marriage Day. Until then, we send you our

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (www.usccb.org) has put more emphasis on the importance of the Sacrament of Matrimony recently through the “foryourmarriage.org” website.
